Who We Are

More than 100 years old, the Alberta Kennel Club is an all-breed dog club that was founded in 1904 by a group of Sporting Dog enthusiasts.  The AKC is one of the oldest continually operated kennel clubs in Canada with a modest membership of 50 dedicated volunteers.

Our shows are 100% volunteer driven. We greatly appreciate everyone who contributes to our club and shows. You are the people who make us successful!

What We Do

The purpose of the AKC is to promote the betterment and welfare of purebred dogs by encouraging responsible breeding and ownership as well as sportsmanlike conduct.

To achieve this multi-faceted purpose, the AKC actively sponsors organizations that conduct pet visitations and breeder referrals, and has been holding two sets of dog shows for more than 30 years. The AKC is proud to host Canada’s largest outdoor dog show.

Join Us

Become a member of the AKC and be "adopted" into another family, we would love to have you!

We are always happy to have people who are willing to volunteer some of their time to the club and our shows.
